Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES was profiled on HBO's "Real Sports" last night, with host Bryant Gumble saying as an owner, Jones has "corralled as much power and influence as any owner in the league." But as a GM, "he has been woeful, building teams that have been noteworthy only for their record of mediocrity and underachievement." Jones said he was "envious" of the Patriots' success and the recent run by the Seahawks. He said of returning to the Super Bowl, "It’s almost all I think about when I get up in the morning." Jones: "No one would really want to know what I’d give financially or what I might give on a little year or two in the future" ("Real Sports," HBO, 9/22).

NAMES: Former MLBer DEREK JETER has invested in Blue Jeans Network, an "interactive video-conferencing company that streams events." Jeter, "alongside such Silicon Valley investors as Accel, Battery Ventures and Norwest Venture Partners, participated" in a $76.5M funding round (NYPOST.com, 9/23)....The National Football Foundation & College HOF named CONDOLEEZZA RICE the recipient of the ’15 NFF Gold Medal, making her the first woman to be recognized by the organization in its 69-year history. Rice will be honored Dec. 8 at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in N.Y. (NFF)....The Chattanooga Heroes Fund, established by Broncos QB PEYTON MANNING and Sen.
