Spurs Sell Out All Season Tickets, Create Waiting List For First Time In Team History

The Spurs will sell out of their available inventory of season tickets "for the first time in the more than 40-year history" of the team, according to W. Scott Bailey of the SAN ANTONIO BUSINESS JOURNAL. The club has created a season-ticket waiting list, another "first for the franchise." Spurs Senior VP/Sales & Franchise Business Operations Frank Miceli said that the team expects the final season-ticket count to be "about 13,200 seats sold" for the '15-16 season. That figure "includes about 2,500 new ticket accounts." Miceli said that Spurs Sports & Entertainment "has held back more than 3,000 tickets that will be made available on a per-game basis to individuals and groups this season." That decision "will enable the franchise to keep more of the community engaged" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 9/10).

PICTURE DAY: In San Antonio, Madalyn Mendoza notes the Spurs' website has given fans a "sneak peek" into the $100M renovation project at AT&T Center "that has kept hundreds of workers busy throughout the summer." Judging by a gallery of photos posted to the site Wednesday "showing an almost unrecognizable interior, those improvements are set to be enjoyed by fans in October when the season tips off." The pictures "show what some of the renovation funds have been spent on, though it’s not all installed yet." When the building does reopen, "it will be lit by millions of LED lights and new video boards displaying on-court action to every corner of the house, even to fans seated in the lower level area via underbelly scoreboard screens" (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 9/11).
