In Baltimore, Jeff Barker reports Under Armour "is engaged in a teasing bit of cross promotion with the makers of 'The Martian,' the upcoming Matt Damon film." UA in a tweet depicting a shadowy figure, presumably Damon, wrote, "NASA wanted him. We got him." A Twitter post on the account @MartianMovie later showed a "slow-motion video of Damon working out" in UA pants and T-shirt. The end of the video says, "Under Armour. Official Training Partner of the Ares Program." Damon in the film "plays an American astronaut in the Ares Program who is left stranded on Mars because his crew thinks he is dead" (Baltimore SUN, 9/9).

PROS & CONNORS: YAHOO SPORTS' Josh Cooper noted Oilers C Connor McDavid "has signed with Adidas Canada" as a brand ambassador. He "will wear Adidas performance apparel and footwear." In mid-August, it was reported that adidas "won the right to produce NHL jerseys starting" in '17-18, replacing current supplier Reebok. McDavid going with adidas "likely shows the company is here for hockey and it’s willing to push its brand with the game’s next big star" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 9/8).

FANTASY OF THE OPERA: DGital Media, a N.Y.-based audio engagement company and distributor of spoken word audio, has made a move into the fantasy sports content market by signing partnerships with several prominent outfits in the space, including Fantasy Alarm, RotoGrinders, FNTSY Sports Network, Swish Analytics and fantasy sports personalities Rick Wolf, Kay Adams, and Erik Kuselias, among others (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).

CHARTER CHATTER: In Miami, Greg Cote reported the NHL Panthers and Eastern Airlines "have partnered on a private charter jet the team will travel in this season" (MIAMIHERALD.com, 9/5).
