CFB Marketing Notes: Sports Authority Keeps Mountain West Football Title Game Deal

The Mountain West and Learfield Sports today announced that Sports Authority will retain its entitlement of the conference's football championship game for the second straight year. Sports Authority in '14 became the game's inaugural title sponsor and in year two will receive numerous opportunities for brand visibility, including promotions of the game on various ESPN networks and a season-long digital campaign on the Mountain West Network. This year's game will air on ESPN2 at 5:30pm MT (Mountain West).

HEISMAN WATCH: ESPN and Nissan are bringing back the Heisman House for its fifth year, and the campaign features 14 Heisman Trophy winners in a series of TV spots starting today. The effort features five 45-second spots and five 15-second ads, three of which are playoff-themed and will be revealed later in the season. Newcomers in this year's effort will include Titans QB and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier and College Football HOFer Jim Plunkett. The campaign is a collaboration among TBWA\Chiat\Day, OMD and ESPN's in-house CreativeWorks unit (ESPN).

PRETTY SWEET: The Pac-12 today announced that it has secured Red Vines candy as an official sponsor for the '15 Pac-12 Football Championship Game and will activate a weekly multi-platform “Sweet Moments” campaign. Beginning today, Pac-12 Networks will launch the Red Vines #SweetMoment franchise across linear, digital and social platforms. Each of the 34 live football games Pac-12 Networks produces this year will include a Red Vines #SweetMoment feature celebrating the most dynamic play of the game (Pac-12).
