Media Notes

Dodgers announcer Vin Scully said that he has "not made a decision" about returning for a 67th season, and that he "does not want to commit too soon." In L.A., Bill Shaikin notes Scully "previously has said he has three priorities in making his annual decision." His health is "foremost," and aside from a cold he suffered from last week, he said that it "is fine." He does "not want to extend his career to the point where he is no longer an effective broadcaster." He also "likes to sit down and see what his wife, Sandra, and the Dodgers -- in that order -- might have to say" (L.A. TIMES, 8/18).

THAT'S A WRAP: TNT's live coverage of the PGA Championship this year, which included Thursday/Friday coverage and early coverage on Saturday/Sunday, averaged 1.64 million viewers, up 28% from last year and the net's best mark since '10. Coverage of the final round from 11:00am-2:00pm ET averaged 1.79 million viewers, up 53% from '14. Meanwhile, social impressions for the Turner-managed PGA.com accounts on Facebook and Twitter were up 45% from last year. PGA.com also saw a record number of live video streams over the four days of the PGA Championship (Turner Sports).

CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK: In St. Paul, Charley Walters reported Olivia Harlan, the daughter of broadcaster Kevin Harlan, "will be a TV sideline reporter" for Packers preseason games while her father and Rich Gannon work from the booth. She also will "work college football games for ESPN" (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 8/16).

SHORT OF THE LINE TO GAIN: In Nashville, Mike Organ reports Titans QB Marcus Mariota's preseason debut Friday against the Falcons earned a 15.6 local rating on WTVF-CBS. The game peaked at a 19.3 rating at 8:30pm CT "after Mariota left the game." The 15.6 rating was 17% lower than the rating for last year's preseason opener against the Packers (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/18).
