In Salt Lake City, Kyle Goon reports informal discussions between the Pac-12 and DirecTV "have reopened" since AT&T's acquisition of the satellite TV provider "cleared last month." While talks have "been informal and DirecTV is still in a state of transition, the Pac-12 is driving to reach an agreement by Sept. 3, when football season kicks off." A source said that Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott, Pac-12 Networks President Lydia Murphy-Stephans and other Pac-12 officials are "pushing for sooner rather than later" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 8/14).

WOODS & IRONS: In Milwaukee, Bill Glauber reported CBS in its coverage of this weekend's PGA Championship will be "keeping tabs on Tiger Woods, even though it's doubtful that he can make a championship run here." CBS commentator David Feherty said, "You still can't show major television championship golf and not tell the public what he's doing." CBS Sports Chair Sean McManus said that even though Woods "hasn't been a contender for a while, golf ratings on the network are up this year." McManus: "There seems to be a general overall opinion that the PGA Tour and golf in general is on an upswing" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/13).

GAME, SET, MATCH: AWFUL ANNOUNCING's Matt Yoder noted Andy Roddick has "left Fox Sports" after serving as an analyst for "Fox Sports Live." Roddick announced the news while responding to a question on Twitter from a fan.  Roddick was "one of the faces of FS1 when it launched" in '13 as part of an all-sports panel, but "Fox Sports Live" has since moved "towards a more traditional talent setup" (AWFULANNOUNCING.com, 8/13). Meanwhile, former NFLer Steve Hutchinson has "joined Fox Sports as part of its college football broadcast team." He will "rotate as an analyst on Fox Sports with Petros Papadakis working games with play-by-play announcer Justin Kutcher" (DETROIT NEWS, 8/14).
