New Security Measures At Rogers Centre Create Hour-Long Wait For Argonauts Game

The CFL Toronto Argonauts said that the long lines and wait times to enter Rogers Centre at the team’s home opener Saturday against the Saskatchewan Roughriders were “'unacceptable' and won’t happen again," according to Curtis Rush of the TORONTO STAR. In a letter to the fans from Exec Chair & CEO Chris Rudge, the team said that it has "met with Rogers Centre staff to correct the problems." Rogers Centre has "implemented security measures this season" consistent with MLB where fans "have to pass through metal detectors." The Argonauts said that they "tried as best as possible to get the word out to their fans to come early." When fans arrived, they were "met with long lineups and wait times that some said stretched for over an hour." There was an "announced crowd of 20,642," but many of those "missed some parts" of the Argonauts' 30-26 victory (THESTAR.com, 8/12).
