Under Armour Files For Trademarks On Logo Apparently Belonging To Jordan Spieth

Under Armour "has filed for three trademarks for what appears to be" golfer Jordan Spieth's logo, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com. The logo "features two J's with an S that is contained in the white space in between." The filings say that the "intent is to use the logo on everything from footwear to golf gloves, headwear, eyewear, jackets and pants." Terms of his contract with UA have not been disclosed, but sources said that if Spieth "continues his pace on the golf course, he'll be one of the highest-paid players in the game." His payments "will rise as he gets royalties from sales of his own gear, which is expected to hit the market next year." UA previously has "produced logos" for Warriors G Stephen Curry, with his initials "SC" that also spell out his number 30, and Panthers QB Cam Newton, whose initials "CN" include his number 1 (ESPN.com, 8/6).
