Titans Voice Concerns To Aramark Over Snafus At Nissan Stadium, But Won't End Deal

The Titans have "no plans to cut ties" with Nissan Stadium food vendor Aramark, but the team has put the company "on notice," according to Joey Garrison of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. Titans execs have held "several meetings with Aramark officials" after a July 3 U.S.-Guatemala soccer game at Nissan Stadium "went rocky on several accounts." In addition to long lines inside, fans "waited in excessively long lines just to get into the stadium." Titans interim President & CEO Steve Underwood said, "I have spoken to their president. I have spoken to two of their vice presidents. We've had multiple meetings over the past two weeks about what happened that day. We are exceedingly disappointed with their performance that day, and we've made that abundantly clear to them." Garrison noted the Titans, to address long lines outside Nissan Stadium, "recently unveiled plans to increase the number of entry gates and increase the number of personnel working the gates." Titans VP/Facilities & Game Day Operations Bob Flynn on Wednesday said that the plan is to have 115-120 people "manning the gates during the upcoming Titans football season, up from 80-90 last season." He also said that that despite the snafus, U.S. Soccer "wants to return to Nashville." He said, "We're talking about future dates already." Meanwhile, Garrison noted the Titans and Nashville Finance Dir Rich Riebeling yesterday presented the Metro Sports Authority sports authority members a seven-page audit commissioned by the Titans that "outlines discrepancies with the team's reporting of ticket sales and ticket tax collections" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 7/23).
