ESPN's Special Olympics Coverage Includes Hour-Long Preview, Daily Recap Segments

ESPN's "extensive coverage" of the Special Olympics World Games, which begin Saturday in L.A., gets under way tonight at 9:00pm ET "with an hour-long preview hosted by Robin Roberts," according to Michael Lev of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. Saturday’s opening ceremony at L.A. Memorial Coliseum will air live on ESPN at 9:00pm, after which the net "will air daily recaps running 30 minutes Sunday-Thursday and 60 minutes Friday and Saturday." ESPN Coordinating Producer Kate Jackson, who is "co-producing the Games for ESPN," has primarily "worked on motor sports over the past eight years." Studio host Lindsay Czarniak "has ample experience, having covered Olympic Games in Atlanta, Beijing and Torino for NBC." ESPN is "devoting massive resources to the Special Olympics with reporters spread all over the L.A. area covering events" during the 11:00am-11:00pm window (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 7/21).
