Adidas Unveils New Miami Football Uniforms, Celebrates Upcoming 12-Year Deal

The Univ. of Miami and adidas on Saturday night unveiled new football uniforms that "appear to keep the tradition of 'the U' intact while staying fresh and fashion-forward for the young at heart," according to Susan Miller Degnan of the MIAMI HERALD. adidas unveiled the green, orange and white jerseys and pants while "celebrating its upcoming 12-year partnership" with the school, which begins Sept. 1 and runs through June 30, 2027. The three jerseys "each have the word 'miami' printed in traditional font above the number." A small adidas logo is "above 'miami,' and an Anaconda-like pattern (or cheetah-like or honeycomb-like, depending on your perspective) blends into the jersey." The uniform set allows "for nine combinations." adidas Global VP/Team Sports Mark Daniels said that the uniform was "developed in collaboration with the UM athletic department, which included input from selected players" such as QB Brad Kaaya (MIAMI HERALD, 7/19). In Ft. Lauderdale, Christy Cabrera Chirinos wrote the uniforms include "plenty of Miami’s traditional elements, with a few new twists, including metallic elements on the jerseys, pants and cleats" (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 7/19). The HERALD's Degnan wrote, "I like what I see, even the 'miami' part" (MIAMIHERALD.com, 7/18).

TWITTER REAX: 247Sports.com's Keith Niebuhr tweeted, "Not really digging the new #Canes jerseys ... or the previous ones. Miami has sick logo & great helmet. I'd keep the unis clean & simple." The South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Dave Hyde tweeted, "Florida State bans players from bars. U of Miami unveils its uniforms in Club Liv. Just observing."
