ESPN Once Again Leads ComScore Rankings For June, But Unique Visitors Down Again

ESPN in June led monthly comScore sports rankings of multiplatform digital reach for the 16th consecutive month, but its total of 72.4 million unique visitors represented a drop for the third straight month and ESPN’s lowest figure since May ’14. The slide also is a marked reversal from a stretch between June ’14-January ’15 in which it set all-time sports category comScore reach records four separate times. After setting its own company records in rank and reach in May, SB Nation also retreated in June, falling from 47.2 million unique visitors to 39.2 million and dropping from fifth place to seventh. Conversely, Deadspin made an upward move, increasing from 11.6 million uniques and 14th place in May to 15.3 million and 11th last month. ESPN maintained its typical category lead in consumption metrics with an average of 79.5 million minutes per user during the month, down 14% from the prior month.
