Overnight Ratings: Spieth's Playoff Win Delivers Best John Deere Classic Finale Since '99

CBS yesterday drew a 2.8 overnight rating for the final round of the PGA Tour John Deere Classic, which saw Jordan Spieth defeat Tom Gillis on the second hole of a playoff. That figure marks the event's best Sunday rating since '99, when J.L. Lewis won in a playoff. The overrun for the event from 6:00-6:45pm ET drew a 3.9 overnight, with the peak rating coming from 6:30-6:45pm (4.1 rating). Meanwhile, Saturday's coverage on CBS drew a 1.5 overnight, marking the best third round for the event since '02.

NEW SWING: Fox drew a 0.7 overnight for the final round of the U.S. Women's Open yesterday, which saw In Gee Chun hold off Amy Yang by one stroke. That figure is down sharply from NBC's coverage last year (1.7), but that event saw Michelle Wie defeat Stacy Lewis by two strokes. Fox also drew a 0.6 for Saturday's coverage, down from a 1.2 on NBC last year. FS1 drew a 0.2 and 0.1 for Friday and Thursday coverage, respectively. Those numbers are down from a 0.5 and 0.4 on ESPN2 last year.

NOTES: ESPN drew a 0.7 overnight for its first-ever Premier Boxing Champions event on Saturday from 9:00-11:00pm. The bout featured Keith Thurman defeating Luis Collazo....NBCSN drew a 2.0 overnight for the cable net's first-ever NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday night -- the Quaker State 400 from Kentucky Speedway. That figure is flat compared to TNT's coverage last year.
