Turner Sports Reinstates Greg Anthony, Assigns Him NBA Summer League Contests

Analyst Greg Anthony worked a Summer League on NBA TV on Saturday, and while Turner Sports “would not elaborate on whether this meant Anthony is back in the fold for the longterm," it is "clearly an entrée to getting reps again as an NBA studio or game analyst,” according to Richard Deitsch of SI.com. Anthony was suspended after soliciting a prostitute in January and his "first appearance" back after reinstatement was for Saturday's Heat-Pacers game. Anthony will serve as an NBA TV game analyst for Summer League play through July 10. Reps from Turner Sports and CBS Sports said that they “would decide together if Anthony would work the NCAA tournament again.” Deitsch noted there was “always a road back for Anthony to broadcasting because he was well liked at both networks internally, with a reputation of doing all sorts of events (media and otherwise).” Anthony was also “contrite upon the arrest and stayed below the radar afterward.” The road back to “working as an NBA commentator -- one should presume the NBA signed off on Anthony calling Summer League games -- will be much easier for Anthony than returning to college basketball” (SI.com, 7/3). FS1's Mike Hill on Twitter wrote, "Good to see Greg Anthony reinstated by Turner. People slip & many deserve a 2nd chance. Others in this biz have gotten it. Glad G gets his."
