Audience Analysis: NBCSN's IndyCar Race Best Since '11; College World Series Down

NBCSN averaged 512,000 viewers for the Verizon IndyCar Series MavTV 500 last Saturday from Auto Club Speedway, marking the best IndyCar audience for the net since the inaugural Grand Prix of Baltimore drew 591,000 viewers on the net on Labor Day weekend in ’11. Last year’s race at ACS was the season finale on Labor Day weekend, drawing 280,000 viewers for the Saturday night race.

BOY MEETS GIRL: ESPN averaged 1.41 million viewers for the three-game Virginia-Vanderbilt College World Series, down 30% from 2.01 million viewers for the same three-game matchup last year. This year also marked the third time on record that the Women’s College World Series audience topped the men's final series from Omaha ('07 and '05 were the others). ESPN and ESPN2 this year averaged 1.91 million viewers for the three-game Florida-Michigan WCWS from June 1-3.

NOTES: HBO averaged 1.12 million viewers for the main event of its boxing telecast on Saturday, which featured Timothy Bradley’s win over Jessie Vargas from 10:53-11:40pm ET. That figure is up 16% from 966,000 viewers for Bradley’s last bout on Dec. 13 against Diego Chaves (11:48pm-12:36am)....SNY drew a 3.22 local rating in N.Y. last Sunday for Reds-Mets, which featured the MLB debut of Mets P Steven Matz. That figure marks the third-best Mets game audience this season to date and best for Mets weekend day game since April ’12....beIN Sports and beIN Sports Espanol drew a combined 3.8 million viewers for the quarterfinal round of the Copa America.
