Kentucky G Aaron Harrison Tops For Digital Brand Value Among NBA Draft Prospects

Among the top prospects for tonight’s NBA Draft, Kentucky G Aaron Harrison has the best digital brand value (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), followed by Duke G Quinn Cook and UK G Devin Booker, according to data from sports analytics firm MVPindex. Looking at scores on reach, engagement and web conversation, Harrison led all prospects on social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Rounding out the top five were Wisconsin C Frank Kaminsky and UK G Andrew Harrison. Projected No. 1 pick -- former UK C Karl-Anthony Towns -- did not crack the top 10. But while Towns is not overly engaged, he ranks No. 1 among prospects on Facebook in terms of number of fans and average engagement per post.

THE LEADERS: Booker is the most-prolific tweeter among all Draft prospects, having sent out just over 3,000 over the last month. Duke C Jahlil Okafor is the most-mentioned prospect on Twitter with just over 1,500 mentions over the last month. On Instagram, Cook leads the way among prospects with over 220,000 followers -- one of only two prospects to crack the 200,000 mark on the platform.

LESS SOCIAL? Looking at the '15 crop of top NBA prospects vs. last year, there seems to be less use of social media across each platform. There is a sharp drop in usage of Twitter and Instagram among this year’s prospects (9% of ’15 prospects have private Instagram accounts and were not included). Facebook use looks to be relatively flat. But compared to current NBA rosters, this year’s Draft class is well below the percentage of players on Facebook and Twitter. Usage of Instagram looks to be fairly comparable among the top groups.
