Colorado State Univ. yesterday announced that it would be "providing cost-of-attendance stipends for student-athletes on scholarship beginning in the fall." The school is "coming up with this extra funding" from the $7M buyout paid by the Univ. of Florida over the next six years for hiring away football coach JIM MCELWAIN back in December. CSU AD JOE PARKER said that he "expects McElwain's buyout to cover cost of attendance at CSU for the next three to five years" (Ft. Collins COLORADOAN, 5/14).

AWARDS & HONORS: Former NBC Sports Chair DICK EBERSOL on May 6 at an annual Players Championship dinner for industry leaders received a lifetime-achievement honor from the PGA Tour.
