Rodgers Victorious On "Celebrity Jeopardy!" Appearance, Chats It Up With Trebek

Packers QB AARON RODGERS was a contestant on “CELEBRITY JEOPARDY!” last night, winning his match with $8,399 and earning $50,000 for his charity, the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund. However, neither Rodgers nor the other two contestants answered “Final Jeopardy!” correctly. During the interview segment, host ALEX TREBEK told Rodgers, “I’m not going to talk to you about your Super Bowl win. I’m not going to talk to you about your MVP awards. I want to ‘pump you up’ and do a double-check for you because I have noticed that although you take your work as a quarterback very seriously, you don’t take yourself too seriously. I’ve got to figure that helps you a lot in as competitive a game as NFL football.” Rodgers: “Well, it’s a game. That’s why you can’t take yourself too seriously, and I think you should consider some sort of celebration after a good show.” Trebek then performed the “discount double-check” move and said, “I don’t have the cheesehead” (“Jeopardy,” 5/12). Rodgers said of the episode that was taped on March 31, "It was a lot of fun. It was something I dreamt about doing for a long time and I was excited about the opportunity." ESPN WISCONSIN's Jason Wilde noted Rodgers "looked almost disappointed with his performance" after he "missed the Final Jeopardy answer." Rodgers also "whiffed on a Double Jeopardy question about fellow Cal dropout STEVE WOZNIAK, who left Berkeley to co-found Apple." He "answered 'IBM' and appeared to utter a profanity when he realized his mistake." When asked if he had sworn at his wrong answer, he replied with a chuckle, "I don’t remember." Wilde noted Rodgers' girlfriend, actress OLIVIA MUNN, was actually the producers' first choice to be a contestant. Rodgers: "She was like, 'I don't really want to [do] this.' I was like, 'I will do that! Tell your people I will do it!'" (ESPNWISCONSIN.com, 5/12).
