Bills' Year-Over-Year Merchandise Sales Up 300%; McCoy Jerseys Setting Team Records

The Bills figure to be quiet tomorrow night during the NFL Draft as they enter the proceedings without a first-round pick, but a bevy of offseason hirings and player acquisitions have thus far led to business-metric boosts across the board. The team’s year-over-year in-store merchandise sales had risen 300% through mid-April, while online jersey sales were up 212% from ‘14. Bills Senior VP/Communications Scott Berchtold said sales of RB LeSean McCoy’s No. 25 jersey have “outsold all others” in franchise history during a player’s first two months on the roster. Since being traded to the Bills from the Eagles in March, McCoy’s royal blue home jersey has been the most popular among Bills fans. Meanwhile, the team already has surpassed the 55,000 season-ticket sales mark after selling less than 48,000 in ’14. Berchtold said the Bills are “pacing very well” toward reaching the franchise record of 57,132 set in ’92. The season-ticket renewal rate currently is at 96%, while new season-ticket sales are on pace for a 200% year-over-year increase. Interest at the team’s official website also has been up since the start of the offseason, buoyed by the hiring of coach Rex Ryan. Berchtold noted traffic to BuffaloBills.com for the year is up 22%. That despite online measurement firm comScore showing a 29% drop in the number of unique visitors to the site last month compared to March ’14.
