CBS' Weekend Viewership For The Masters Up From '14, But Down From Two Years Ago

CBS finished with 14.0 million viewers for the final round of The Masters on Sunday afternoon, up 26% from 11.1 million viewers last year, but down from 14.7 million viewers in '13 when the event went to a playoff. Saturday’s coverage on CBS finished with 8.9 million viewers, up 51% from 5.9 million viewers in '14, marking the best third-round Masters audience since '11 (CBS). SI.com's Richard Deitsch noted it is "way too early to tell" whether Masters winner Jordan Spieth will be a TV draw, but he has "age (21) and likability (at the moment) on his side." The "jackpot for golf networks" would be a competitive Tiger Woods "against the sport’s young guns," such as Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Reed, Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama. That is a "narrative you can sell to casual sports viewers" (SI.com, 4/13).
