Penguins Won't Use Big-Screen TV For Playoff Viewing Due To Ongoing Construction

The Penguins yesterday announced that they "would not roll out a big-screen TV" to watch playoff games as they have in the past because of "construction on the former Civic Arena site," according to Jason Mackey of the PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW. Penguins VP/Communications Tom McMillan said, "We hope to get right back into it next year." Mackey notes the outdoor viewing parties "will be replaced by a 100-ticket giveaway -- 50 pairs -- that puts fans together" in Consol Energy Center. McMillan said that the team "will be giving away 9,000 black towels and 9,000 Vegas gold towels for home games." Mackey notes the towels "will be given out to ticketholders at random" (PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 4/14).
