UConn Fatigue Setting In? ESPN Sees Lowest Audience Since '09 For Women's Title Game

In a sign that viewers are possibly getting tired of UConn's women's basketball dynasty, ESPN on Tuesday drew its lowest audience for the NCAA women's national championship in six years. UConn's 63-53 win over Notre Dame to claim the Huskies' third straight title averaged 3.08 million viewers. That figure marks the lowest for a women's title game since UConn-Louisville in '09 drew 2.67 million viewers. The audience for this year's title game also is down 28% from the same matchup last year. ESPN did see a viewership spike for the Final Four games on Sunday evening. Notre Dame's one-point win over South Carolina in the early window and UConn's blowout of Maryland in the late window averaged 2.2 million viewers, up 7% from Notre Dame-Maryland and UConn-Stanford last year.
