Seahawks' Marshawn Lynch Selling "I'm Just Here So I Won't Get Fined" T-Shirts

Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch on Wednesday "began selling a T-shirt on his website featuring his now-famous words from Super Bowl XLIX Media Day: 'I’m just here so I won’t get fined,'" according to Daniel Rubens of SEATTLEPI.com. Lynch in February "sought to trademark the phrase." The shirts "feature an image of Lynch wearing a 'Beast Mode' logo cap, along with the famous phrase." They cost $34 and are "available in black, gray or white" (SEATTLEPI.com, 4/9). ESPN’s Michael Smith said of Lynch’s business acumen, "Marshawn Lynch is a very smart guy. I don’t think he sat up there with the intention of saying, 'I’m about to make a T-shirt out of this.'" ESPN’s Mike Greenberg said, "As a longtime veteran of this media thing, it has now evolved into a place where we are all playing a game. That whole thing is a game. There’s no journalism being practiced there. Everyone’s got their part in the game." ESPN’s Mike Golic said, "The journalism is different and Marshawn played everybody" ("Mike & Mike," ESPN Radio, 4/10).
