Bucks co-Owner Wes Edens said that he "plans to personally invest in some of the ancillary developments the franchise hopes will be built in conjunction" with a proposed $500M arena in downtown Milwaukee, according to Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Edens: "I can't speak for all of them (the ownership group), but for me, 100%. The more that I invest in things in Milwaukee, in Wisconsin, then there are more reasons for me to come here. And that's a good thing." But to the question of whether he or co-Owner Marc Lasry or investor Jamie Dinan, the "wealthiest members of the Bucks' ownership group, will commit more of their personal fortunes to close a gap in financing a new arena, Edens was circumspect." Edens said, "I don't know really what the answer to that is. There is an economic side to it, and it has to be a viable transaction." Edens added that he remains "confident a deal will be brokered between the state, the city and the county." Walker notes while Edens "has been supportive" of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's proposal, he "has yet to meet" with him. Edens said that there "will be compromises that will lead to an arena financing deal." Edens: "That's the nature of human interaction. We are prepared to invest a considerable amount of money here. [Former Bucks Owner Herb Kohl] gave $100 million, the state is willing to participate ... and the city and county have got limited resources but they will be very substantial beneficiaries of this, both in tangible and intangible ways. He added, "I'd like to think there is a good solution there" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 4/10).
