Subway Focusing MLB-Themed Creative This Season Around MVPs Trout, Kershaw

Subway enters the '15 MLB season with a couple of new ads that feature the two reigning MVPs and perhaps the two biggest stars in the sport -- Dodgers P Clayton Kershaw and Angels CF Mike Trout. Kershaw made his debut in a Subway commercial to promote the QSR’s Turkey Breast sandwich, talking about how every pitcher has a routine and that eating the sub is part of his before taking the mound. That ad debuted Sunday during ESPN2’s broadcast of the season-opening Cardinals-Cubs game. The Trout ad, which was slated to air for the first time last night, depicts the three-time All-Star eating the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sandwich and talking about how he has always gone to Subway since his days in Little League and the minors. The two spots are part of a season-long campaign featuring the cross-town rivals. Subway Global Dir of Sports Marketing & Strategic Partnerships Paul Bamundo in a statement said there was “a conscious effort to communicate the authentic stories” of the two players in the ads. Trout has endorsed Subway since February ‘13, while Kershaw signed with the QSR last November.
