NWSL Houston Dash Falling Short On Ticket-Sale Goals Heading Into Second Season

The NWSL Houston Dash are entering their second season, but they are "nowhere close to where they want or need to be in ticket sales" for their season opener on Friday against the Washington Spirit, according to Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. The team as of March 27 had only sold 2,500 tickets for the game despite coach Randy Waldrum having set a "crowd of 10,000 as his goal for that match." The team has "visited many local youth clubs," and Waldrum and Dash Managing Dir Brian Ching hosted "officials from seven local youth clubs in a suite at BBVA Compass Stadium at last week's Dynamo game against the Rapids." Meanwhile, Dash F Ella Masar and several teammates "went into the club's ticket offices for two hours last week to call fans." Masara "proved to be the top seller while bringing in nearly $2,500" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 4/5).
