Ticket Search Engine SeatGeek Closes $62M Round Of Venture Capital Financing

N.Y.-based ticket search engine SeatGeek has closed on a $62M round of Series C venture capital financing, the company’s second major round of funding in a little more than seven months. The latest batch of money, combined with its $35M Series B in late August last year, brings its fundraising to nearly $100M over the past year. California-based Technology Crossover Ventures led the Series C round, joined by prior investors Accel Partners and Causeway Media Partners, an investment fund led by Celtics Managing Partner & CEO Wyc Grousbeck. Accel also helped lead the $72.5M Series C round for software developer Hudl that was announced earlier this week. SeatGeek intends to use the latest funds in part to fuel a continued investment in mobile-based products, an increase in North American consumer marketing, and to nearly double its employee base from 64 currently to an intended target of more than 110 by the end of the year. SeatGeek co-Founder Jack Groetzinger said, “The way people buy tickets is changing, thanks to mobile. SeatGeek builds products that facilitate that change. We have ambitious goals; I’m confident (Technology Crossover Ventures) will help us achieve them.”
