Fantasy Island: DraftKings Signs Multiyear Renewal Of MLB Partnership

DraftKings has signed a significant multiyear expansion of its exclusive partnership with MLB, creating one of the broadest alignments between a major sports property and a daily fantasy operator. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes an increase of MLB's minority equity stake in DraftKings that it first acquired in '13, entitlement for DraftKings as baseball's official daily fantasy game, and the creation of co-branded MLB daily fantasy games. Other components include promotion for DraftKings across MLBAM's suite of digital products, in-ballpark DraftKings signage, and establishment of DraftKings as an official sponsor of MLB jewel events such as the All-Star Game and postseason. "Two years ago, MLB and DraftKings signed the first league deal in daily fantasy history, and we are excited to deepen that ground-breaking relationship through this new, leaguewide, exclusive partnership," DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said a statement. "MLB has long been at the forefront of embracing new technologies to create superior fan experiences, and DraftKings couldn't be happier to partner to continue that tradition of innovation." DraftKings also holds a league-level partnership with the NHL, while rival daily fantasy operator FanDuel is aligned with the NBA.
