Dodgers' Kasten In Talks With Commissioner Manfred To Host All-Star Game

It has been 35 years since Dodger Stadium hosted an MLB All-Star Game, but Commissioner Rob Manfred "made it sound Monday like that drought could soon come to an end," according to Mark Saxon of ESPN L.A. Manfred said that he and Dodgers President & CEO Stan Kasten "have begun discussions about bringing a future Midsummer Classic to Chavez Ravine." Manfred: "I’m aware of what the facts are in terms of how long it’s been since there’s been a game there and, obviously, a market like L.A., you can’t ask for a better showcase for the game. So, more to follow on that one." Saxon noted the "earliest the Dodgers could land" the event would be '18. The Nationals also figure to "lobby heavily to land one in their new ballpark" (ESPNLA.com, 3/16). In L.A., Steve Dilbeck writes it is "hard to know how excited to get over the possibility" of a future ASG at Dodger Stadium. The next three will be held in NL parks, which "could make even a 2019 bid a long shot" (L.A. TIMES, 3/17).
