MLB At Bat, Nike+Running Highlight Sports Apps Featured In Roll Out Of Apple Watch

Apple yesterday "touted" MLB At Bat as part of the unveiling of its new Apple Watch, "as has been the case in the past" with other product rollouts, according to Maury Brown of FORBES. Apple VP/Technology Kevin Lynch yesterday did so by "showing off " the At Bat app. The release "is key as MLB was the only sports property highlighted at the event." While Apple Watch "does not currently support streaming video," At Bat's inclusion shows that MLBAM "continues to be a hot commodity with Apple" (FORBES.com, 3/9). SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Eric Fisher noted the At Bat app on the watch "will get scores, alerts, game info, etc." Fisher also noted ESPN and Nike+Running will be "among sports entities to be first movers on new device" (TWITTER.com, 3/9). MLB.com's Mark Newman noted At Bat's inclusion on the Apple Watch marks the "first time" that the app will be available "on a wearable device" (MLB.com, 3/9).
