Odell Beckham Jr.'s Standout Rookie Season Leads To Huge Marketing Opportunities

Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason "went to work on building a brand that had already prematurely grown beyond his wildest dreams," as he received marketing and endorsement offers from "most of the major companies associated with the NFL and its players," according to Jordan Raanan of the Newark STAR-LEDGER. Beckham's "bursting onto the scene has made him a valuable commodity." The "first-round-pick-turned-instant superstar by his famed one-handed catch and standout rookie season" became one of the league's "biggest stars in a matter of weeks." Beckham's "sudden stardom has opened unforeseen doors." His marketing agent, Chris Stuart of Encore Sports, said he received offers from pretty much "every major partner of the NFL on Super Bowl week." Raanan noted prior to the offseason, Beckham "tried to keep a low profile," aside from "some signings." Selectively "picking their spots, Stuart expects some 'marquee deals' to be finalized soon." Raanan wrote, "Expect Beckham in commercials and pushing significant products soon on a television and in stores near you." Beckham's team of agents, along with his parents and his financial advisor, "does the vetting." His father, Odell Sr., said, "We just kind of sit around and huddle up and see if it's in his best interest. All money is not good money and some things shouldn't be done." Raanan noted the Giants received more media requests for Beckham "after 'The Catch' than they had for any player, at any point, in recent years, including after their most recent Super Bowl victory" in '12 (NJ.com, 3/2).
