Seahawks Adding 1,000 Seats To CenturyLink Field With New Toyota Fan Deck

The Seahawks formally announced that they are constructing the Toyota Fan Deck at CenturyLink Field, a partially covered open-air viewing area which will add 1,000 padded seats to the south upper concourse. Two new seating sections will be completed in time for the '15 preseason. Ticketholders in the new section will have exclusive access to the Toyota Fan Deck, which will include a new 12 Flag Pavilion (Seahawks). In Seattle, Marc Stiles reported the Fan Deck will have a "'club-like atmosphere' with multiple televisions, and 8-foot-long fireplace and food and beverage stands." The $5-6M expansion is being "privately funded by the team." The team indicated that it is "working with the Washington State Public Stadium Authority ... on the project." Seahawks Dir of Business Communications Jeff Garza said that the expansion "will increase the Clink's capacity for football games to more than 69,000." Stiles noted that is short of the 70,000 seats the NFL "prefers in a Super Bowl stadium." But Garza said that adding the Fan Deck "is not aimed at bringing the Super Bowl to Seattle" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 2/23).
