Pitt Forms 14-Member AD Search Committee, Taps DHR Int'l To Assist Process

The Univ. of Pittsburgh yesterday announced “the formation of a 14-member search committee" for its next AD, according to Sam Werner of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. The group is chaired by interim AD Randy Juhl, “who is not a candidate for the job, and includes two current coaches, two current student-athletes and two former athletes, as well as other administrators.” The committee “will be assisted” by Chicago-based search firm DHR Int’l. Pitt women's basketball coach Suzie McConnell-Serio, a member of the committee, said the search was still in “the very early stages.” She added that it was “too early to even think about identifying potential candidates.” Pitt Chancellor & CEO Patrick Gallagher said that he wants an AD "who will be able to step into the role right away.” Juhl said that the school already has “received interest from potential candidates.” He added that he “expects the pool to include current athletic directors as well as ‘rising stars within other university's athletic departments.’” Werner notes Pitt has “been without” a full-time AD since Gallagher fired Steve Pederson in December (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 2/11). In Pittsburgh, Jerry DiPaola notes Juhl identified DHR Global Head of Sports Glenn Sugiyama and Exec VP/Education & Sports Practice Pat Richter as the reps who “will be working with Gallagher and the committee” (PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 2/11).
