NFL Facility Notes: Jaguars To Reveal Shipyard Development Plans This Month

In Jacksonville, David Bauerlein reports the Jaguars and Owner Shahid Khan "have been working for months on plans to develop The Shipyards" near EverBank Field, and the team will "provide more details at the State of the Franchise address" the week of Feb. 16. Jaguars officials "have talked about building an indoor training facility on the property as part of a mix of development." They "haven’t submitted any formal proposal to the city" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 2/6).

WASHINGTON MONUMENT: In DC, Dan Steinberg reported the Redskins "recently began surveying season ticket holders about what they’d want from a new football stadium." The 12-question, multiple-choice survey "was attached to the online invoices sent to at least some season ticket holders." The survey "asks if fans 'would want the lower bowl seats to move/shake similar to the RFK stadium experience,' whether fans would want to be able to view the field from concourses throughout the stadium, how important public transportation would be for a new stadium, and whether dedicated tailgating lots are important" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 2/5).

LAKE EFFECT NO: In Buffalo, Gene Warner writes the "biggest possible city site for a new Bills stadium, just to the east of the Buffalo River, with a north end zone aimed" at the downtown skyline, has "stirred a hornet’s nest of potential opposition from two neighborhoods." The larger development footprint surrounding the possible stadium site identifies a "prominent business strip along South Park Avenue" as a possible site "for redevelopment." The stadium itself also "would swallow a popular waterfront park" (BUFFALO NEWS, 2/6).
