SI Unveils Swimsuit Issue Cover Featuring Hannah Davis On NBC's "Tonight Show"

Davis' SI cover was unveiled a few days earlier than usual
SI last night on NBC's “The Tonight Show” unveiled the cover of its ’15 Swimsuit issue featuring Hannah Davis, marking a different timing and forum for the reveal. The magazine historically has disclosed the cover selection on the Monday night before the wide release of the issue the following day. But with the magazine and digital components still scheduled for a Feb. 9 release, this move revealed the cover more than four days ahead of time. The use of “The Tonight Show” also represented a change in venue strategy. Last year, SI did the cover reveal on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on a Thursday after working for many years with David Letterman and CBS’s “Late Show” (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer). NBC's Jimmy Fallon during his show-opening monologue said, "A lot of people are excited about this. Sports Illustrated is releasing its annual swimsuit issue next week, that's when it's coming out. I saw that it's viewed by more 18 to 24-year-olds than the Super Bowl. Biggest difference is that nobody double-checks to make sure the door is locked before watching the Super Bowl." After unveiling the cover, Fallon said, "The only way this could get any better is if the cover model herself were here right now." At that point, Davis walked on-stage to a thunderous applause, with Fallon saying, “What an incredible honor this must be for you." Davis interrupted him and said to Fallon’s sidekick, Steve Higgins, “Hold on a second. Do you want to get out of here?” Higgins: “With pleasure.” The two then walked off stage arm-in-arm (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 2/4).
