In St. Louis, Brian Feldt reports Rams DT Michael Brockers is the latest NFL player to "go public" with S.F.-based Fantex. The company paid Brockers $3.44M in exchange for 10% of his "future brand income." More than "362,000 shares will be available." Fantex "projects Brockers to have a 12-year NFL career and sign a five-year contract" in '16 worth $45.1M. Fantex "estimated Brockers' lifetime brand income" to total $72.7M when including "future contracts and endorsements and post-career earnings" (ST. LOUIS BUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/30 issue).

CLEARANCE RACK: In Phoenix, Stacia Naquin reported the NFL "wants to sell" memorabilia with the Super Bowl XLIX logo "at the NFL Shop located inside the Phoenix Convention Center." The items that "didn't sell over Super Bowl weekend are now discounted as part of a 'Fan Appreciation Day.'" This sale "does not include Super Bowl Championship gear" (AZCENTRAL.com, 2/2).

FEMALE EMPOWERMENT: U.K.-based Female Sports Group launched yesterday, and the consultancy aims to help increase female sport’s share of sponsorship investment. Founding Partners John Postlethwaite and Fraser Houlder have also created a strategic alliance with research firm Repucom. Postlethwaite, who also serves as CEO, in a statement said, "We strongly feel that mixed gender and female sport is at a tipping point and the professionalism, quality of events and broadcast opportunities in these sectors are on a steep upwards curve" (Female Sports Group).

FIGHTING WORDS: Reebok VP/Combat Training Division Todd Krinsky said that the company is working on a "big showcase" for its official UFC apparel launch. In Boston, Jack Encarnacao noted the event is likely to be "in conjunction with the UFC’s July 11 event in Las Vegas." Meanwhile, Krinsky said that Reebok "will continue working" with UFC fighter Jon Jones in wake of his positive drug test, and that the company "will weigh such transgressions" by endorsees on a "case-by-case basis" (BOSTON HERALD, 2/2).
