Electric Boogaloo? Chargers Refute Reports Of Planned Stadium In L.A.

The Chargers "have refuted a report" from CBS Sports Radio 920 St. Louis indicating that team Chair & President Dean Spanos "has a deal in place" with Goldman Sachs to build a new stadium in L.A., according to Tom Krasovic of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. CBS Sports Radio 920's Andy Strickland reported that the NFL had asked Spanos to "hold off from announcing or releasing those plans." Strickland "cited high-ranking officials in St. Louis as the source for his information," but as to where in L.A the facility would be located, he "gave no specifics." Chargers Special Counsel to the President Mark Fabiani said, "Although we have worked for years with Goldman Sachs as our investment banker, the remainder of the story is untrue" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 1/25).
