The NBPA yesterday hired veteran sports marketing exec JORDAN SCHLACHTER as the union’s first-ever CMO. Schlachter has more than 20 years of sports marketing, branding and sponsorship experience, and most recently was Exec VP/Sports at The Marketing Arm. Schlachter is the latest high-level exec hire by Exec Dir MICHELE ROBERTS since she was elected to run the NBPA in July (Liz Mullen, Staff Writer).

SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON: The Red Sox yesterday announced several personnel moves in their baseball operations department. The team promoted RAQUEL FERREIRA to VP/Baseball Administration, AMIEL SAWDAYE to VP/Amateur & Int'l Scouting, MARK WASINGER to Special Assistant for Player Personnel, MIKE MUROV to Assistant Dir of Major League Operations and BRIAN ABRAHAM to Assistant Dir of Player Development. The team also named PAUL FRYER Global Crosschecker, JOE MCDONALD Baseball Operations Analyst and ADRIAN LORENZO Major League Staff Assistant (Red Sox). Ferreira is "just the third woman to be elevated" to a baseball operations VP position in MLB (BOSTON GLOBE, 1/14).

EXECS: Octagon Europe named consulting firm Redmandarin Partner SEBASTIAN SMITH Exec VP (Octagon)....Centerplate named ERIC WOODEN Senior VP for its newly created Hospitality Solutions Group (Centerplate)....Bears GM RYAN PACE on Monday "made his first major move" in firing Dir of Pro Personnel KEVIN TURKS. Turks "worked 13 seasons" in the department and was promoted to the position by former GM PHIL EMERY (ESPNCHICAGO.com, 1/13)....Consumer attention network InStadium named SANDY KHAUND Chief Technology Officer. Khaund will be based in Silicon Valley and will report to Chair & CEO BRUCE FAILING (InStadium)....Athlete development software provider ClubSportal LLC named JOHN HARKES Partner (ClubSportal).
