League Notes

In Denver, Mike Chambers wrote every hockey coach, player, parent and fan "should regularly visit NHL.com's most educational and influential section on its website," its Department of Player Safety page, where the league is "educating and demanding accountability in video format." The league has placed "cameras all over its arenas and a production staff to pull it off in a clean, concise manner." It has "helped change the culture from the unwritten 'code' to no-excuse accountability" (DENVER POST, 12/21).

D-LIGHTED: In Idaho, Dave Southorn noted NBA D-League President Malcolm Turner "made his 15th visit to one of the league's franchises Friday night at CenturyLink Arena" for Warriors-Stampede. Turner said, "Our attendance is actually up, about 15 percent this season. We have 19 corporate partners, and in 2016-17 we'll be a part of the ESPN platform. With increased corporate support and media exposure, we're going to keep building." He said of D-League affiliations, "We definitely aspire to a 30-for-30 model where every NBA team has a single affiliate. But we're not in a rush. We ... have to find the right location, right owners" (IDAHO STATESMAN, 12/22).
