Glazer Continues To Be Critical Of ESPN For Not Crediting Him With Manziel Story

Fox' Jay Glazer on Thursday defended a series of tweets he sent out earlier in the week critical of ESPN not crediting him for breaking the news Browns QB Johnny Manziel will start his first NFL game this Sunday against the Bengals. Appearing on NFL Network's "The Rich Eisen Show," Glazer said, "It’s not what happened with this story, it’s what happens always. ... I don’t sit down and sit idly by when people in the business do things that are shady." He said when he releases a report, it is "proper etiquette in life that you give the credit where credit’s due, because quite frankly, that’s how we all get judged in this business.” Glazer: “I get judged on one thing and one thing only, and that’s scoops. I wish we only got judged on accurate information, but that doesn’t happen in this business either. People throw out stuff that’s wrong and it doesn’t matter, they just want headlines.” He continued, “When ESPN steals people’s work, I’m not going to sit by. I’m going to rip the hell out of them for it until they stop doing it. … What it does is it makes you wonder is there anything did they break, and it hurts great reporters.” Glazer said ESPN has “such a lying, cheating, stealing policy over there." He noted after he goes after ESPN for incidents like this, many of his Twitter followers say, "Oh man, ESPN's just wrong, we're sick of it." Glazer: "Other people go, ‘Oh, we don’t care about it, stop whining.’ ... Having a scoop is a lot more than receiving a text and putting it out there. It’s living on your phone non-stop 24/7, and I’m certainly not complaining. That’s what you have to do at any job to be successful” ("The Rich Eisen Show," NFL Network, 12/11).
