Longtime ESPN Communications Exec Chris LaPlaca Honored With PR News Award

ESPN Senior VP/Corporate Communications CHRIS LAPLACA was honored with the Corporate PR Professional of the Year award by PR News. LaPlaca was honored at a lunch at DC's National Press Club. The trade publication highlighted LaPlaca's work around the '14 FIFA World Cup, citing a stat that says ESPN PR placed more than 200 stories in the top 75 newspapers. LaPlaca also was highlighted for his work on a day in August, when the N.Y. Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today published features on three different topics on the same day. In winning the award, LaPlaca beat out PR execs from Guitar Center, USANA Health Sciences, ERA Real Estate and KPMG LLP.
