Packers Donate $200,000 For Naming Rights To Plaza Outside KI Convention Center

The Packers "have agreed to donate $200,000 for naming rights on an outdoor plaza to be built" as part of the soon-to-be-expanded KI Convention Center, according to Scott Cooper Williams of the GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE. The outdoor area is "tentatively known as Packers Plaza" and would "overlook Main Street in a spot previously occupied by Coaches Corner restaurant." In addition to the Packers logo "emblazoned in the pavement, the plaza's preliminary design includes outdoor lighting, landscaping, benches and cafe tables." It would be located "on the northwest corner of Main and Adams Streets." Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt said, "It's a $200,000 gift that's really going to add some curb appeal to a beautiful building." Williams noted the city Redevelopment Authority is scheduled tomorrow to "consider approving the naming rights deal." Officials said that the donation from the Packers "would be used to help pay for construction of the outdoor plaza as well as other parts of the expansion" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 12/6).
