MLB Exec VP/Business Tim Brosnan To Leave The League At The End Of Next Month

MLB Exec VP/Business and MLB Enterprises CEO TIM BROSNAN will leave the league at the end of next month, finalizing a nearly 24-year stint with baseball. Brosnan held several positions with MLB, rising in '00 to his current spot where he played a significant role in many major media and sponsorship deals. Brosnan in particular was a key figure in the birth and development of MLB Network and the World Baseball Classic, as well as the rise of the annual MLB All-Star Game into a midsummer force. A finalist to succeed BUD SELIG as commissioner, Brosnan in August bowed out shortly before voting began when it was obvious he did not have sufficient voter support. Subsequent to the election of ROB MANFRED to the commissioner post, Brosnan did not figure into a new administrative plan that will see MLBAM CEO & President BOB BOWMAN become the league's Chief Revenue Officer overseeing many of the areas now led by Brosnan. "His efforts benefited many facets of our game, and contributed to the prosperous state of the National Pastime today," Selig said of Brosnan. The formalized exit of Brosnan will be the first of many major moves expected within MLB's HQ, including the forthcoming business realignment under Manfred and Bowman. Brosnan last year ranked No. 21 along with Manfred in SportsBusiness Journal's ranking of the 50 Most Influential execs in sports business.
