ESPN "SportsCenter" Mobile App To Change Name First Part Of Next Year

ESPN Exec VP/Digital & Print Media John Kosner said Friday at a Walt Disney Co. event in Burbank, Calif., that the popular "SportsCenter" mobile app early next year will change its name to “ESPN.” The primary intent with the switch is to unify all of ESPN’s flagship digital properties, particularly its website, mobile website and primary mobile app, under a single brand name. ESPN by early February also intends to combine that rebranded ESPN mobile app and its web development into a single personalized experience for users. Kosner additionally disclosed that the redesigned ESPN.com will launch on April 1 next year, a date that represents the 20th anniversary of the site. The redesigned site, which soft-launched a public beta earlier this fall, will feature a fully responsive design and increased levels of personalization and social sharing tools. Kosner outlined the ESPN digital initiatives with the aid of ESPN Senior VP/Digital Product Management Ryan Spoon.
