H-E-B San Antonio Big League Weekend Matchup To Feature Dodgers, Rangers

Organizers of San Antonio's annual H-E-B Big League Weekend yesterday announced that the Dodgers will face the Rangers March 20-21 at the Alamodome, and the Dodgers "will drive ticket sales" for the preseason event, according to Tom Orsborn of the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS. The Rangers are participants "for a third straight year." After "drawing 75,000" to the inaugural Big League Weekend matchup of the Rangers against the Padres in '13, attendance for the '14 pairing of the Rangers and Astros "dipped to 50,000." The Dodgers’ presence "could boost attendance," as the team "had a minor-league presence in San Antonio" from '77-'00 (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 11/13). In L.A., Steve Dilbeck notes the March 20 game is "scheduled to be played" at 5:00pm PT, while the March 21 game is set to begin at 11:00am. The Dodgers "also have games scheduled in Arizona that weekend, so it's uncertain how many regulars will go to Texas" (L.A. TIMES, 11/13).
