Jonathan Kraft Says Revolution Continue To Work Toward Soccer-Specific Stadium

Revolution President Jonathan Kraft said the ongoing effort to build a soccer-specific stadium for the team is "something we’ve been working on for a while," and added while team execs have "come very close with a couple of situations over the past half dozen years ... they didn’t happen." Kraft, speaking on Boston-based WBZ-FM, added, "Because of that, we’re just going to just stay quiet until we have something, but we’ve been working extremely hard on it. The team belongs in Boston or the immediate surrounding area, but I think Mayor (Marty) Walsh has expressed a desire to see it there. I think he understands the power and the value to a community of one of these facilities, not just for the fans of MLS but the other things, a venue like this can do for a community. We’re hopeful that in the near future, something will be able to happen. They belong in a city with public transportation, where new Americans and the 20-, 30-, and 40-year-olds who played the game and live in and around the urban area want to go to it. It’s a different type of vibe than a suburban football stadium has. Hopefully, we’ll be able to do it and then create the type of special atmosphere that exists in many other venues around the league" (WBZ-FM, 11/11).
