The Cowboys' 91-acre project that will include the team’s HQ and training facilities "will be called the Star in Frisco," according to Valerie Wigglesworth of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Team officials said that the "expectation is that the name of the site will become as synonymous with the NFL team as Valley Ranch." The Cowboys are "partnering with the city of Frisco and the Frisco Independent School District on part of the project." About 25 acres "will include a 12,000-seat multi-use event center with an indoor practice field, two outdoor practice fields, a two-story retail and conference center, and two six-story towers that will make up" the team’s HQ. Cowboys COO & Exec VP Stephen Jones said that now that the project "has a name, work will start on identifying candidates for naming partnerships for the headquarters and event center." The city of Frisco and Frisco ISD "are contributing" $115M to "build the indoor stadium, training facilities and headquarters building." Any costs above that "will be picked up by the Cowboys." Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones yesterday said that the development’s "total price tag" could be $2-3B. Construction "is on schedule," with opening set for June '16 (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/12). Stephen Jones said, "This is the start of Frisco and The Star being synonymous with the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Cowboys brand, high school and youth sports and Friday night lights in Frisco" (ESPN.com, 11/11).
