CBS To Air Egg Bowl Over Iron Bowl After Reaching Appearance Limit With Alabama

CBS will air Mississippi State-Ole Miss on Nov. 29 instead of Auburn-Alabama in part because the net has "exhausted the number of appearances for Alabama this season," according to Hugh Kellenberger of the Jackson CLARION-LEDGER. This weekend's MSU-Alabama game will mark the fifth time CBS has aired a Crimson Tide game this season, and there are "certain appearance limitations within the agreements the SEC has with its partners." The net has already aired Alabama games against Florida, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and LSU. As a result, this year's edition of the MSU-Ole Miss Egg Bowl "will be on CBS for the first time ever" at 3:30pm ET, the first time in 50 years it will air on broadcast TV. ESPN will air the annual Iron Bowl between Auburn and Alabama in primetime that day (Jackson CLARION-LEDGER, 11/11). CBSSPORTS.com's Jon Solomon noted the "last time the Iron Bowl wasn't on CBS" was '07, Nick Saban's first season as Alabama coach. Every Iron Bowl from '08-13 "has had national championship implications, and this season's game could as well" (CBSSPORTS.com, 11/10). USA TODAY's Adi Joseph noted ESPN already has announced plans to "run an alternate feed" of the Iron Bowl "through the SEC Network, though details haven’t been worked out" (USATODAY.com, 11/10).

MILITARY APPRECIATION: The Baltimore SUN noted ESPN's "College GameDay" is "finally coming to Baltimore thanks to the 115th Army-Navy game." The show will broadcast "from the Inner Harbor the morning of the Dec. 13 game at M&T Bank Stadium," beginning at 9:00am (BALTIMORESUN.com, 11/10).
