NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he would "raise the minimum age" for players entering the league from 19 years old to 20 if he could "unilaterally do one thing." Speaking on CBS Sports Radio's "The Doug Gottlieb Show," Silver said, "It may not be the highest priority for a lot of people, but I do think we should raise the minimum age from 19 to 20. I think we would have a better draft; we would have more mature players coming into the league. I think college basketball would benefit -- that wouldn’t be my intention in doing it. I think by better competition in college basketball, it would be better for the NBA as well. The guys come into the league with more experience, more mature, and better known by the public. That’s something that ... we have to negotiate with the union." Meanwhile, with talk continuing about whether the NFL could sustain a team located outside of North America, Silver said the NBA was not close to that point. Silver noted the league does play an occasional regular-season game in London, with the Bucks and Knicks set to play at O2 Arena in January. Silver: "It’s something we do now more on a developmental basis to increase interest in those markets." He added, "When our teams go in preseason, one of the advantages is they don’t have to rush back, which is what they would have to do in the middle of the regular season. So they can participate in the clinics, community events. ... The NFL seems like it’s on a faster track to having an international franchise than we are” ("The Doug Gottlieb Show," CBS Sports Radio, 11/4).
