X Games Partners With Major League Gaming On Winter X Videogame Tourney

ESPN and Major League Gaming yesterday announced that a "new offering -- MLG X Games Aspen Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Invitational -- will be held as part of" the '15 Winter X Games in January, according to Rick Carroll of the ASPEN TIMES. Medals "will be awarded to members of the winning teams" in the videogame events. X Games Dir of Events & Content Strategy Tim Reed said that teams "will compete inside a tent that will be erected in front of the Inn at Aspen." He added that the gaming tournament "is part of an ongoing effort by the X Games to expand its content for a broadening audience." Reed: "We've always had sports as the main component, and it still remains the backbone. But we want to provide a broader range of content and experience for our fans. Bringing in things like gaming or music are obviously a part of the youth lifestyle" (ASPEN TIMES, 11/5).
